CORAL REPRODUCTION AND SPAWNING: HOW FINDINGS FROM CURACAO HELP TO BETTER UNDERSTAND THE FUTURE OF CARIBBEAN REEFS
Wednesday September 30th
Location: Carmabi Marine Research Station at 18h00
Carmabi in collaboration with the Secore Foundation and the University of Amsterdam have the honor of inviting all that are interested to a public lecture on one of the more intriguing aspects of coral biology: their sex life….
Recently many new insights from Curacao have helped to better understand this delicate but wondrous phase in a coral’s life cycle and we would like to share these findings with everybody this evening before corals will start “spawning” the days after.
Speakers:
- Dr. D. Petersen. He will talk about the Secore Foundation and novel approaches to aid reef recovery.
- Dr. M. Vermeij will give a general overview of the wonderful world of coral reproduction and
- Drs. V. Chamberland will close the evening with an overview of the latest findings of studies done on Curacao that will help improving coral restoration efforts and provided some interesting new insights on how coral might be able to adapt to a changing environment.
In case of any questions, call M. Vermeij (5103067) or V. Chamberland (5131205)
