EXPEDITION FOR PURE OCEAN

PARC DES CALANQUES, MARSEILLE - FRANCE 17 - 19 OCTOBER 2020

Seatrekking Expedition in cooperation with our partner Pure Ocean Fund
to raise awareness for the protection of the oceans. During three days and two nights and a distance of 25 kilometers to be covered, the team of volunteers monitored the entire coastline from Les Goudes to Cassis in the beautiful Parc des Calanques: by collecting garbage in the water along the coast in areas that are rarely monitored and by observing the biodiversity of the sea. The not inconsiderable amount of garbage, collected especially in the first section of the route, was given to Mer Terre volunteers for classification and recycling. Organizer and Seatrekking Guide Philippe Balch`s summary on the last sections of the trail: "Beautiful underwater faults, lots of white and yellow gorgonians in good condition, Merus in Port-Pin, but also invasive species of trumpet fish and peacock wrasse. Rare wastes between Sugiton and Port-Pin but microplastics present."

Despite the coldish water and headwind on some parts of the trail, the conditions remained great: sunny weather and visibility of 25 meters plus. During the nights the team was hosted by our excellent Captain Maxime on his private sailboat.

Departure from Les Goudes on Saturday around 9am. Arrival on Monday between 5 and 6 pm at Plage du Bestouan.
